Westminster

Westminster is an area of central London within the City of Westminster & situated on the north bank of the river Thames & southwest of the City of London. It has a large concentration of London’s historic landmarks including the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, No. 10 Downing Street, Westminster Cathedral & the iconic clock tower known to millions as Big Ben. The biggest scene in Westminster is undeniably a political one with much of the area taken up by governmental buildings such as The Home Office, Foreign Office and Ministry of Defence. Westminster is walking distance to Belgravia, Mayfair & Chelsea to the north & offers fine riverside strolls along the embankment & southwards across the river’s many bridges to the cultural complex of artistic venues known as ‘The Southbank’. The Royal Festival Hall, National Theatre, The London Eye, Shakespeare’s Globe, Tate Modern are all within ears distance of Big Ben.

Scientists Sir Isaac Newton & Sir Charles Darwin; Charles Dickens &  Laurence Olivier; King Henry V & Queen Elizabeth I are all buried at Westminster Abbey in the heart of Westminster.
